iPhone Xs Max Battery Replacement

- Battery charge should be below 25% when performing any type of repair.
- If the iPhone Xs Max battery is charged, it can explode and/or catch fire if punctured.
- Also, switch your iPhone off.

Caution:

- Remove two 6.9mm pentalobe screws from the bottom of the device.
- Insert the opening tool around the bottom edge between the display and the frame.
- Slowly progress along the edges all around the phone.
- To open the phone, pull the display up, and from the left, like a book's back cover.
- Do not disengage the display yet; several flat cables connect the display to the phone's logic board.

Note:

- Opening the phone's display will jeopardize its waterproof features.
Make sure you have prepared replacement seals before you go on with the repair.
Otherwise, avoid exposure to liquid if you skip replacing the seals when reassembling the phone.

- Remove four Y000 screws that secure the logic board connector bracket.
- Two 1.1mm screws.
- One 1.5mm screw.
- One 3.7mm screw.
- Remove the connector bracket.
- Remove the three Y000 screws securing the display connector bracket:
- Two 1.1 mm screws.
- One 1.5 mm screw.
- Remove the bracket.
- The battery connector can be lifted out of its socket using the spudger's point or a fingernail.
- Bend the connector away from the logic board to prevent it from making contact with the socket.
- Disconnect the digitizer cable.
- Disconnect the OLED panel cable.
- Disconnect the front panel sensor assembly.

Note:

Tip:

- Remember where each screw comes from so you can put them back where they belong to avoid damaging the iPhone.

Caution:

- When reconnecting the cables, press one end of the connector until it clicks back into place, do the same on the opposite end.
Avoid pressing down in the middle. A misaligned connector can cause the pins to bend.

- Remove the display assembly.
- OEM iPhone batteries should have adhesive strips underneath.
- Use your tweezers to pull them out starting from the top of the battery.
- The bottom ones are a bit tricky.
- To get to the pull tabs, you should either remove the taptic engine or pry the battery slightly up.
- Use the spudger at the bottom of the battery to lif it a bit.
- You should now have a clear path to pull tabs. - Remove the battery.

- Install and reconnect the LCD panel.
- The new battery should have adhesive strips preinstalled, if not, use double-sided self-adhesive tape.
- Put the new battery in place and remove protective films.
- Connect the battery to the logic board.
- Insert both metal brackets and secure them with screws.
- Close the phone and tighten two bottom screws.
